PATTERNKOTE

About This Project

PatternKote is a distinctive & economical way to apply a high gloss coating to select areas on a printed sheet for both effect and ease of post-processing. The use of a blanket or a plate allows for work where requirements of cartons to have glue flaps left free of coating or expiry dates again left free of coating possible. The high gloss finish is very similar if not the same as GlossKote, however, the difference is selected areas are left free. Much in the same way where a silk screen is used but quite different in the speed where PatternKote is much faster and economical. SpotKote is designed for tight registration and high-quality work, PatternKote is designed for speed high volume work. PatternKote can be used on brochures, magazine covers, phone directories, all forms of packaging and any graphic where panels need to be left free of coating.

DO'S

Stock choice is important as coated surfaces will offer the best results uncoated stocks will not. In order to generate a blanket or a plate we will require a film positive right reading emulsion up or a PDF outlining the areas to be coated. We will require a 20mm grip, so from the edge to the first image being coated we require a 20mm gap. Ensure your inks are dry before we coat otherwise set off, scuffing and marking may occur.

DONT'S

Don’t apply any varnish, primer or aqueous varnish unless its approved by your supplier for this process. Avoid the use of excessive spray powder as this will effect the overall quality of your job. Remember PatternKote is a liquid coating so we recommend testing of stocks should scores, folds be required.
